railroad line in Modesto, CA. Working with Stanislaus County farmers and yearly contracts, James West sold sacked grain to brokers and customers
and then sold seed back to the farmer. Since this was seasonal work, James S. West worked out a relationship with a local banker to develop land
and create irrigation for farming to support his growing family. As the business grew though the 1910's, the company sold coal, wood and later fertilizers.
Throughout the 1920's and 1930's J. S. West continued to develop and modernize its feed processing and delivery capabilities. J.S. West’s involvement
in the shell egg industry spans more than thirty years and continues today to include the industry leading state of the art Diamond 12W Innova Egg Grader.
This is the first Diamond Innova System sold on the West Coast.J. S. West & Co. has become a very diverse and family centered business. Currently
there are three generations of the family managing the company, successfully maintaining J. S. West's traditions of integrity, customer loyalty, industry
innovation and a commitment to quality in all of their products and services.
