We are pleased to announce the release of the Brown and White Dirt Detector, known as
Diamond Vision. Diamond Vision is available for all Diamond Innova grading systems and
has the same user friendly features and reliability that our customers expect. This new
system can inspect both brown and white eggs for defects. Once the system is set up,
there is no need for any further adjustments to be made when changing from white to
brown eggs, and vice versa. Brown and white eggs can also be processed at the same
time in a ‘split-lot’ if desired. The Diamond Vision system uses a series of high resolution
cameras to inspect the eggs for defects. Each egg is inspected 10 different times around
its surface, as it rotates. The defects that it can find and reject include manure, blood, egg
yolk, egg white and feathers on the outside of the shell; as well as pin holes and other
anomalies. When coupled with an automatic crack/leak detector, Diamond Vision can help
to find leaking eggs as well. The system can also distinguish between defects and pigment,
or freckles, on brown eggs. There are sensitivity adjustments based on the size of the
defect and the contrast between the defect and the shell. The inspection area and defect
criteria are all adjustable and set up by the user. Diamond Vision utilizes newly designed,
state of the art software and runs on a single, powerful, high-speed computer. Upon
request, Diamond service personnel can “dial in” over an internet connection and view the vision system’s various software screens to assist the customer during
set-up and to answer any operation questions. Owners of all dirt detection units have found significant savings by reducing the quantity of good eggs being
rejected by manual candling, as well as the missed defects due to the increased speeds of today’s equipment. The Diamond Vision system is reliable, easy to
adjust, decreases labor, and reduces over pull and missed defects; increasing the quality of the finished pack.
